Artist's Comments

Well here's a drawing of one of Konan's Soldiers in his Pack(Or army but they call it "the Pack"), this one didn't take me quite as long, and i like how it turned out.

By the way if anyone asks the thing in his abdominal area if you didn't already know, or i just drew it poorly, is his pack where keeps his knife and beacon.(that's really all they need)

Hope everyone likes!

The anatomy is pretty good with the general structures well represented. But the front legs look a bit too rigid as compared to the hind legs. So perhaps you should watch out for the shape of those. In addition, the body is a bit too much of a sausage shape. The frontal dorsal area should be a bit lower due to the presence of ribs. It's great that you've added the 'fluffy' details of the fur but maybe you could amplify the details more on the tail so it doesn't look flat. :) Good job overall! Keep practising and keep improving!

First, interesting design - though wolves are a popular subject on this site, your addition of a pack adds for something different.

Although the wolf is obviously stylized, there are a few anatomical points that could be improved. The muzzle is too sharply slanted and the mouth too far up, if you are going for accuracy. Take a look at your photo 'Wolf Love' and you can see the wolf's mouth is barely visible. If you want to keep it as part of your style, however, it does add character to the expression.

Also looking at your 'Wolf Love' picture, notice the wolf's eye is slanted downward, not up, as you have drawn it here. The ruff of fur around the face is a nice addition, but having it disconnected from the ear makes it seem out of place. Nicely done on the shoulder; it took me ages to get those down. However, the neck makes it look as if the head and the body were not meant to be connected. Drawing the fur a little farther down on the bottom of the neck will fix this problem easily - that way if you moved the leg the bottom of the neck and the bottom of his ribcage would connect.

I like that you made him so fuzzy, especially the tail! Attention to details such as those put you on a good path for improvement. However, I would recommend displacing the fur around the pack. If you put a constricting item around a body the fur is not going to lie flat like that. I would also suggest drawing the edges slightly above and below his side to make it "pop" more. The ears could also benefit from a bit more fluff; they do have quite a bit of fur inside them and it would look more interesting than the simple triangle.

Last, his pose is rather static and therefore not as eye-catching as it could be. For the purpose of using it as a character sheet, side views generally work, but practicing more dynamic poses are a great way to improve as well.

Overall, you have a great basic knowledge of form. I would suggest doing an image search using various keywords (gray wolf head, wolf profile, grey wolf side, etc.) either on dA or otherwise, for good references. Hope such a nit picky look at this picture helps your further endeavors. :)

I would write a critique, but I don't have a membership. =P

I like this one more the Konan, actually. It looks like you've improved everything. The paws, the ears... they're perfect!

Maybe you could put them in a different pose next time. =)

Thanks! I looked at some tutorials on how to draw wolves, and I'd say it really helped!
